Luang Phu Tim Issarigō – The Revered Master of Wat Laharn Rai

In the tranquil heart of Rayong Province, nestled amid Thailand’s lush northern landscapes, stands Wat Laharn Rai, a temple steeped in sacred heritage. It is here that the spiritual legacy of Luang Phu Tim Issarigō, one of Thailand’s most revered Buddhist monks, is honored with unwavering devotion.

Born in 1913 in Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya, Luang Phu Tim entered the monastic life at the age of 21. From the moment of his ordination, he dedicated his life to spiritual cultivation, meditation, and the compassionate service of others. His unwavering commitment to the Dhamma earned him respect across the nation, and his wisdom and humility made him a guiding light to countless followers.

Under the tutelage of distinguished monastic mentors, Luang Phu Tim refined his understanding of Buddhist scriptures and deepened his meditative practice. Yet, it was his remarkable spiritual insight and his rare ability to create sacred amulets imbued with profound metaphysical power that distinguished him from his contemporaries.

Over the decades, Luang Phu Tim’s amulets gained legendary status. They were not only beautifully crafted but believed to hold protective and auspicious energies, offering wearers blessings of safety, prosperity, and good fortune. Among the most celebrated of his creations is the Phra Khun Paen Plai Kuman—a potent sacred powder amulet believed to attract wealth, enhance charm, ensure success in business, and provide comprehensive spiritual protection. Crafted with powerful, ritual-prepared ingredients, this amulet bears the image of Luang Phu Tim himself, further empowering it with his spiritual essence.

Another highly revered creation is the Look Om Pong Plai Kuman, a sacred powder sphere believed to bring good luck and ward off harm. Additionally, the famed Phra Kring Chinabanchorn, a small statuette of the Medicine Buddha in Vajrayana tradition, is credited with miraculous powers of healing, protection, and longevity. These amulets became particularly cherished among soldiers and police officers, many of whom wore them into the field, trusting in Luang Phu Tim’s blessings to keep them safe. In fact, numerous editions were specially commissioned by military regiments in Rayong, seeking divine protection through the monk’s sacred craft.

Perhaps most iconic among his creations are the Rian—sacred coin-shaped metallic amulets. Variants such as Rian Jaroen Porn, Rian Nakprok Paed Rorp, Rian Huang Chueam, Rian Mae Nam Koo, and Rian Sema are considered among the most powerful, known for bestowing luck, spiritual merit, and life-saving protection.

Luang Phu Tim also created a wide array of other sacred items, often incorporating his distinctive Pong Plai Kuman powder. These include the Pra Siarn Dto, Siarn Lek, Pra Sivali, Pra Pid Ta Pong Plai Kuman, and a host of other rare talismans. His repertoire extended to handcrafted items like Palad Khik (carved wooden talismans symbolizing vitality and protection), ivory images, Mitmor ritual knives, and sacred cloths known as Pha Yant—notably the rare and highly sought-after Pha Yant Pad Boke.

Luang Phu Tim entered parinibbāna (passed away) in 1991, but his spiritual legacy continues to thrive. Wat Laharn Rai remains a beacon of faith, drawing pilgrims and collectors from across the globe who seek the blessings of this humble yet extraordinary master. His teachings endure through the power of his amulets—respected not only as sacred objects of protection but as vessels of compassion, mindfulness, and merit.

The life of Luang Phu Tim was a profound testament to the strength of faith, the depth of selflessness, and the enduring influence of spiritual devotion. His name lives on as a symbol of purity and protection, cherished in the hearts of the faithful and immortalized through the sacred art he left behind.
