Luang Phor Pae (B.E. 2448–2542): A Legacy of Compassion and Revered Amulets
Luang Phor Pae was born in B.E. 2448 and became a novice monk at the age of 16. He initially studied advanced Pali at Wat Chanasongkham until the age of 22, when he was ordained as a monk at Wat Pikunthong. By B.E. 2474, at just 26 years old, he became the abbot of Wat Pikunthong, a position that would mark the beginning of his transformative journey.
As abbot, Luang Phor Pae worked tirelessly to rebuild Wat Pikunthong from a neglected temple into a well-known and beautiful sanctuary in Singburi, which also earned recognition throughout Thailand. To finance this ambitious restoration, in B.E. 2482, he created and chanted his first batch of amulets. This marked the beginning of his legendary reputation as a maker of amulets. His work was supported by Luang Phor See of Wat Praphrang, who helped him create the Pra Glee Bua and the Waen Chaai Ying (Man Woman Ring) amulets, both significant in his early career.
Over the years, Luang Phor Pae became famous for his powerful and well-crafted amulets. His creations are revered for their ability to provide protection and invoke metta (loving-kindness) for the wearers. Collectors and devotees worldwide continue to treasure his amulets, recognizing their efficacy and spiritual value.

The Enduring Value of Luang Phor Pae’s Amulets
Since Luang Phor Pae’s passing on 10th February B.E. 2542 at the age of 94, his amulets and statues have become even rarer and more valuable. With the monk’s passing, no more batches of his amulets can be produced, leading to a steady increase in the value of his work. Today, his amulets are not only revered for their spiritual power but also for their scarcity.
The Phra Somdej series, especially, remains a symbol of protection, good fortune, and spiritual merit for the wearer. These amulets, and others created by Luang Phor Pae, continue to be passed down through generations, keeping his memory alive and his teachings present in the hearts of those who cherish them.
A Lifetime of Service
Throughout his life, Luang Phor Pae was not only dedicated to amulet making but also to the well-being of others. Under his leadership, Wat Pikunthong became a center of learning, healing, and community service. He was deeply committed to supporting the less fortunate, particularly children, and provided for their education and well-being. His compassionate nature and dedication to the monastic life earned him the respect and admiration of people far beyond Singburi.
Through his amulets, his temple, and his charitable efforts, Luang Phor Pae’s legacy lives on. His amulets, both rare and common, continue to inspire reverence and are considered treasures for their spiritual and historical significance.
