Luang Phor Parn Sunantho
Luang Phor Parn was born in 1875 (B.E. 2418) in Bang Nom Kho, Ayutthaya Province. At an early age, he was given the nickname “Parn” due to a red birthmark on his hand. He was ordained as a monk on April 1, 1895 (B.E. 2438) at the age of 20, under the guidance of his teacher, Luang Phor Niam of Wat Noi, Suphanburi. Driven by a deep interest in the Buddha’s teachings, Luang Phor Parn sought his parents' approval before entering the monastic life as a novice monk. He spent many years practicing at Wat Saket in Bangkok and meditating in the forest.
In 1931 (B.E. 2474), Luang Phor Parn returned to Wat Bang Nom Kho, where he was honored with the title of "Heritable Teacher of Buddhism."
A deeply meditative monk, Luang Phor Parn achieved extraordinary levels of Vipassana (insight meditation). His spiritual practice was said to have granted him the "Great Six Knowledge of Miracles," including precognition and the ability to cleanse the mind, thus halting the cycle of reincarnation. Through his profound Dhamma practice, he purified and "distilled" his astral body to a crystalline state, making his physical form immortal on a cellular level.
Luang Phor Parn passed away in 1938 (B.E. 2481) at the age of 62. Remarkably, his body remained incorruptible, undisturbed by decay. He was laid to rest at Wat Bang Nom Kho, in Ayutthaya Province.
Phra Luang Phor Parn, Wat Bang Nom Kho. B.E. 2460 - 2588.
